DEMOCRAT MICHAEL PADILLA ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR STATE SENATOR IN DISTRICT 11
Albuquerque, NM: Today, Albuquerque businessman and entrepreneur Michael Padilla entered the race for State Senator in District 11.  He will face incumbent Linda Lopez.  “It is more important than ever that State Senate District 11 has a hard working and experienced leader that gets things done,” said Michael Padilla, a thirty-five year old life-long democrat.  “Our district needs a leader willing to fully commit the time, energy and courage to make sure we are well represented in the state legislature.”  Padilla went on to add, “I will provide solid leadership that can stay ahead of public safety trends, economic changes, educational requirements, environmental impacts, and desperately needed infrastructure enhancements.”  “I will work on my campaign full-time so that I have an opportunity to communicate with every voter” said Padilla.

State Senate District 11 is located on Albuquerque’s west side, stretching from west Central Avenue south to Los Padillas Road deep in the heart of the South Valley.  Michael Padilla’s family helped settle what is now known as Los Padillas almost one hundred years ago.  He is the grandson of Rafael and Demesia Padilla, Severo and Manuelita Padilla, Ralph and Lucy Padilla, and is the son of David and Gina Padilla, both deceased.  He has two twelve year old sons named Aaron and Zachary Padilla.  His three sisters are Valerie, Gail, and Irene.  His brother Anthony passed away in 1990.

Michael Padilla is a successful business leader.  He is the Chairman and CEO of Altivus CRM Solutions LLC, a call center consulting firm that builds, improves, and expands customer call centers across the United States.  The company has clients in the telecommunications, banking, healthcare, airlines, higher education, and government sectors (Altivus.com).  “Albuquerque’s South Valley and West Side needs a State Senator that can successfully work with business and industry to bring home high paying jobs” said Padilla.

Michael Padilla is one of the visionary leaders that started Albuquerque’s 311 Citizen Contact Center in 2004, and he managed the center until 2007 when he shifted his focus to managing his company full time.  311 provides non-emergency services for the City of Albuquerque, and has received recognition from citizen groups and other cities across the United States.  Michael helped Albuquerque lead the nation by assisting the cities of Denver, Sacramento, Long Beach, Kansas City, and Yuma in their efforts to build 311 Citizen Contact Centers.

Governor Bill Richardson appointed Michael to the New Mexico State Workforce Development board of directors in 2004.  Michael has also been a member of the board of directors of the New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry, and the New Mexico Call Center Alliance.  He has also worked tirelessly for several non-profit organizations focused directly on youth and ways to build a stronger community.  He has been a member of the board of directors of Youth Development Incorporated for over sixteen years, and has been a board member for Popejoy Hall, Special Olympics New Mexico, Junior Achievement of New Mexico, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, and the City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation board.

Michael Padilla attended the University of New Mexico and University of Phoenix, and earned two Labor Relations certifications.  Michael was a key grass roots organizer for the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which created more competition, lower prices, and more reliable telecommunications services for all Americans.

Michael Padilla will focus on these five critical areas as a State Senator:

Safety and Security:  “The safety and security of our families is my number one priority” said Michael Padilla.  “I will work harder than any other State Senator to ensure that our District receives the funding that our law enforcement and emergency services professionals require” continued Padilla.

Jobs and economic development: “Building a successful company will help me work with business and industry leaders to bring high paying jobs to our District that can diversify our economy” said Michael Padilla.

Education and our youth: “I come from a long line of educators, and believe we need to support our teachers every step of the way for the amazing contributions they make to our community” said Michael Padilla.  “Our teachers are the backbone of our community.  They deserve our respect and full support” said Padilla.

Water, air quality, and basic services:
“After all these years, families of the South Valley, Westside, and Los Padillas deserve a State Senator that will immediately take action to bring clean water, modern sewer systems, and other basic services to our community” said Michael Padilla.  “I will build a coalition that makes things happen for the South Valley, Westside, and Los Padillas” said Padilla.

Streets, Traffic, and Sidewalks: “I will work hard to ensure our streets have sidewalks, are well lit, and are designed, developed, and built to reduce traffic delays” said Michael Padilla.  “I believe our streets, traffic, and sidewalk problems can be solved with leadership that gets things done,” said Padilla.

Michael Padilla has committed to working on his campaign full-time so that he can communicate with every resident in State Senate District 11.  “I want to ensure that every voter knows I will be an effective State Senator while working on their behalf” said Padilla.
